Stafford, Texas
Two owners, one route, and a lot of the same pools.
Reed’s Pool Service was founded in 2003. It has changed hands once in that time, and most of the customers did not have to change anything.

James Ayre bought a business and then met Harvey
James is a Texas native and a University of Houston graduate. He bought Reed’s Pool Service from Reed Hartzog in August of 2017. Hurricane Harvey made landfall a few weeks later.
It is not the induction most people would choose. It did settle one question early: whether the new owner was going to keep showing up. He kept the name, the route and the crew, and the customers who had been with Reed since the beginning stayed.
One of them, Jim Wilson, has had Reed’s on his pool equipment for twenty years, which is longer than either owner has run the business on their own.
What we are certified and licensed to do.
- Texas Residential Appliance Installer, Contractor License #960. The license that covers the equipment work, carried on every page of this site because it is the thing worth checking before anyone touches a pool heater.
- CPO-certified cleaners. Certified Pool Operator is the water-chemistry and plant-operation credential. It is the difference between dosing to a test and dosing to a habit.
- Carecraft member. An independent pool professionals network, which is where the equipment supply and training come from.
- PHTA member. The Pool and Hot Tub Alliance, the trade body for the industry.
- Zodiac authorized dealer. Which is what makes warranty work possible rather than a referral to somebody else.
